CGI was founded by Gidi Cohen and Adrian Goldstein with a vision to create a collective of freethinkers and innovators that deliver boutique-living solutions that are beautiful, functional and inspiring to the people that live in them and enrich the communities they serve.

  • Gidi Cohen
    Founder and CEO

    Gidi Cohen has more than 20 years of experience in the commercial real estate industry, including the acquisition, disposition, syndication and development of a wide variety of asset classes.

    In 2013, Mr. Cohen partnered with Mr. Adrian Goldstein to form CGI Strategies in Real Estate, a development and investment management company with a national perspective in commercial and multi-family properties. CGI creates exciting and unique living environments for the community and generates exceptional investor returns.

    Prior to the creation of CGI, in 2006, Mr. Cohen founded Cohen & Associates and grew a small syndication group into a prominent real estate investment and management firm.

  • Adrian Goldstein
    Founding Member

    Adrian Goldstein is one of the forces behind CGI Strategies. He harnesses our company’s vision and oversees its growth with detailed strategic forethought and planning. His experience includes 35 years in commercial real estate, specifically institutional finance and operations. His unique experience allows him to understand the perspective of the institutional lender and he is adept at structuring deals to leverage outstanding returns for institutions, funds and private individuals who invest in our projects. Prior to 2013 when Adrian and Gidi Cohen partnered to form CGI Strategies, Adrian was a managing partner at Gelt, Inc, a private real estate investment company. There he designed and implemented a business plan to acquire multi-family properties resulting in the acquisition and management of approximately 1,500 units in less than 3 years, valued at approximately $130 million USD. Adrian has enjoyed many successes in his career. In the ’90s, he was a founding member of the Greenwich Group International, LLC, an investment advisory/banking firm, specializing in debt and equity financings, investments and institutional lending for real estate transactions. He quickly earned a reputation as a reliably effective deal-closer after his completion of the $225 million USD recapitalization of an office building portfolio and a hotel in San Diego for Southwest Realty Partners with iStar Capital. Adrian left Greenwich to assist in the operation and liquidation of his family’s real estate developments at Weston Communities. There he managed the disposition of assets valued at $200 million USD, including an apartment portfolio of 500 rental units that were sold to Archstone Smith, a public REIT for $125 million USD. The start of Adrian’s career takes us back to 1982 with Cushman & Wakefield, a leading international commercial brokerage firm. In the late 80’s he co-founded a new investment group at Cushman & Wakefield specializing in institutional finance and sales. Adrian and his wife Deborah are bi-coastal living in Calabasas, CA and Lawrence, NY. They have raised five children who are now adults living successful lives with careers in accounting, law, banking and health care.

  • Michael Wilson
    Managing Partner & General Counsel/COO

    Michael is CGI’s cornerstone for all in-house legal matters. He is sharp, intelligent, laser-focused and knows the real estate industry well. He has been well trained in real estate litigation and real estate risk management and he can sense roadblocks and advise on how to mitigate those before they arise. He helps us save a great deal of time and money with his many years of legal expertise and farsightedness. Prior to CGI, Michael was legal counsel to a number of LA-based real estate professionals. He has handled sensitive and high profile cases with ease. Michael’s passion for real estate began as a teenager and parallel to earning his law degree he earned his Real Estate Agent and then Broker License. This invaluable experience gives him the unique ability to see all of our projects from multiple perspectives. Michael is highly respected in the real estate industry and has logged many hours on discussion panels and as a presenter at real estate industry events. He has written dozens of opinion and statistical articles, which can be found in national industry publications. Michael received his Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management from San Diego State University and his Juris Doctor from California Western School of Law, where he received top marks in Real Property Finance.

  • Zion Perets
    Managing Partner & CFO

    Specializing in locating unique deals, Zion sources single- and multi-family development projects in California, and is skilled in underwriting deals, overseeing property renovation and facilitating due diligence. Prior to his employment at a CGI, Zion worked as an investment analyst focusing on single- and multi-family properties in Southern California and successfully achieved unprecedented rates of return on deals closed. Zion received both an MBA and Bachelor’s degree from Tel Aviv University and pursued further education at the UCLA Anderson School of Management, as well as a Master’s Degree in Law from UCLA School of Law.

  • Mark E. Cohen
    Managing Partner – Southeast

    Mark is CGI’s managing partner in the Southeast region. He is responsible for overseeing the region’s operations and sourcing new investment opportunities. Mark has been with CGI since the beginning in 2013 and was Director of Acquisitions for Cohen & Associates, LLC under Gidi Cohen since its formation in 2008. Through his education and work experience, he brings an unmatched ability to locate and analyze real estate markets and the investment opportunities within them. Before that, Mark was Vice President for Alliance Bank’s Real Estate Industries division. Here he developed his strong skill for sourcing, underwriting and managing construction and commercial real estate loans. Mark’s career in real estate began over 20 years ago at GMAC Commercial Mortgage, where he managed a nationwide construction loan portfolio of investment properties valued over $1 billion USD. His impeccable talent led him to be recruited by First Union/Wachovia Bank’s Business Banking division. While there he was integral to the development of the group’s construction loan program. Mark graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from Rollins College and studied International Economics at the American University of Paris.

  • Greg Khodara
    Managing Director & Head of Capital Markets

    Gregory Khodara is a Managing Director and Head of Investments and Capital Markets. He is also a member of the Investment Committee at CGI Strategies. Greg has spent nearly 15 years in investment banking, hedge funds and wealth management. He oversees our investment policies and procedures, capital markets, financial reporting, performance analytics and marketing for the partnerships. Prior to joining CGI, Greg was the chief investment officer at his family investment company. Greg was an investment banker at Macquarie and Merrill Lynch in London and Credit Agrocole in Vienna; he is an experienced value investor having worked for an activist hedge fund. Greg holds Masters’ degrees from Columbia University and Bocconi University and speaks French, Italian and German.

  • Mario Lopez
    VP of Development

    Mario has over 10 years’ experience in the construction and real estate development industry. He started his career working for Morley Builders—a top-tier general contracting firm in Southern California. Through his tenure he was involved in the construction of commercial buildings—hospitality, medical research, museum and education. His is a general contractor with expertise in Type-I construction: ground-up projects and adaptive reuse buildings. After Morley Builders, Mario was a project manager for Holland Partner and was quickly promoted to development manager. As a development manager, he drove the project development process from acquisition, through design & construction, and finally to disposition for Holland’s Los Angeles and San Diego developments. Immediately prior to joining CGI Strategies, Mario was an Associate Vice President at CIM Group—a real estate investment firm with over $29 Billion in assets under management. While at CIM Group, Mario directly managed a portfolio over $300 Million in self-performed, development and construction. Mario received his bachelor’s degree in City and Regional Planning with a minor in Real Property Development from California Polytechnic State University. Mario also holds a California Real Estate Broker License.

  • Andre Soroudi
    Director of Acquisitions

    Andre Soroudi oversees acquisitions for the West Coast. He is primarily focused on sourcing, analyzing, underwriting, negotiating and executing transactions. Previously, Andre was with G.H. Palmer Associates where he worked on the acquisition and development of over 3,000 apartment units in Southern California with total development budgets exceeding $750 million. He is a triple graduate of the University of Southern California with an MBA, MRED and BA in Business Administration.

  • Chris Furman
    Regional Manager, California Portfolio

    Chris Furman is our Regional Manager, California Portfolio. He brings 15 years of expertise in the hospitality and multifamily industries, including hotel and restaurant operations, multi-HOA management, totaling 2200 doors, and multifamily property management. Chris has held executive committee positions in the hotel industry, including; General Manager, Director of Rooms and Director of Food & Beverage. Most recently, he was asked to consult for several luxury brands, specializing in operations & finance and deploys ingenuity and integrity in all his affairs. He is focussed on managing the performance of our California portfolio, on maximizing NOI by reducing inefficiencies and raising service level. Chris earned his bachelor degree from Northern Illinois University.

  • Roni Braitanbaum
    Founding Member

    Roni is a founding member of CGI. He oversees international investor relations and has an important voice in all aspects of deal execution. His 25 years of experience as a manufacturing business owner and manager coupled with his natural ability to draw people in and grow relationships makes him a great asset to our team. Roni’s experience in real estate investments exceeds 15 years and has gained him an innate understanding of what investors want and how to deliver it. Prior to joining CGI, Roni founded Big Baby Inc., an innovative accessory designer and manufacturer. Under Roni’s leadership, the company experienced a massive increase in sales and had many big wins, such as the successful negotiation of a licensed Disney collection. In both the US and internationally, the company surpassed revenue and performance goals year-over-year. Roni was born in Israel and served in the Israeli army for three years. He now resides in Studio City with his wife Deborah and their three children, with whom he enjoys spending time and traveling. Roni is an avid fútbol aficionado, always follows the World Cup and enjoys watching and playing year-round.

    Vice President of Operations and General Manager

    Luke Somerset brings more than 15 years of hospitality industry experience to his role as Vice President of Operations and General Manager of Bread & Salt Hospitality, with an extensive background managing Hotel and Property Operations. Luke’s passion has been in Lifestyle and Boutique Hotel brands like The Standard, Proper, Pailhouse and Hotel Figueroa after his formal beginnings in Resort and 5-star hotel properties. Born in Milton Keynes, England, Luke moved to the United States at the age of seven and spent the bulk of his childhood in Southern California. He studied graphics and new media at the Academy of Art University in San Francisco, but soon found his calling in the hospitality industry after realizing what he really enjoys is connecting with people in a dynamic environment. Known for developing high-performing teams, Luke focuses on making the on-property experience of each guest and resident effortless, so that each hotel or extended stay feels like home and family.
